And if that wasn't enough for you (you whining little prick) DICE is also building an entirely new audio engine. I guess they want to make sure you've heard that grenade when it explodes two feet away from you in 7.1 surround sound! WOOHOO, baby!

I've already commented on the site about the player models and their relative sub par poly count; given the game's release date; but if you take into consideration the fact that BF 2 will have to calculate such advanced physics, along with the destructible terrain, it kind of sheds more light as to why we're not seeing as many polys on player models as we'd like to. But hey, if the trade off involves getting much more dynamic and immersive gameplay at the expense of some blockier player models, I'm all for it, baby! And anyways, there's still time for DICE to include such tech features as Pixel Shader 3.0 support and other neat 3D perks that will add more polish to the near final build of the game.

One final thing that should be noted here is that Battlefield 2 is being developed by the original Battlefield 1942 Sweden based developer, Digital Illusions. I'm sure that comes as reassuring news to many true Battlefield fans out there. According to the latest reports, the game is set to come out in spring 2005.

Hey, at least this time around, saying that we're waiting for a bona fide Battlefield sequel won't be that far off the mark!

I'm personally pretty excited about commander mode and experience point system. If there's anything the BF games have been missing is features to encourage teamwork. As fun as BF games are, for the most part you just run around on your own shooting stuff. Games like Enemy Territory amost force you to work as a team, and it sounds like BF2 has adapted some of these same ET features. Could be nice.

I agree with MenDAKE on this, but i bet half of what was annouced will be scrapped. That always happens :(. well i hope i am wrong :)

I'm afraid we're going to get more "modern warfare" games that we've bargained for. Perosonally, I love the fact than they're concentrating on physics and stuff like team work. Both elements have been sorely missing in the previous BF games.

I'm totally stoked now after reading that. MenDAKE sumed it up already and I 2nd his opinion on the XP system and ET.
  King Speedy: funny...I'm totally stroked....weird...

I think the majority of the BF player base is too fucking stupid to use teamwork no matter how hard they try to force it. This game is loved my morons and new computer users across the globe. I really hope anyone involved in this cash cow shitty ass series gets bowel cancer and rots in hell, because they sure deserve it.

This game is going to suck and cause cancer, and probably lung disorders in your kids. I'm going to buy it so I can shit in the box and return it from the fiery pits of cash milking hell from which it sprung forth, and by buy it, I mean pirate it, or steal it somehow.
Moesha: Dude, don;t sugar coat it. Tell us how you really feel.
Wacko [mail] Apr 22 2004, 08:54 pm EDT
Nobody caught the fact that this looks a whole lot like "America's Army".. experience points,semi-forced teamwork and all...?
future man: I can't imagine a modern combat game focused on the U.S. Arm...
Hmmm@24.101.67.192: I think he meant the GAME 'Americas Army'...
future man: You don't say?
