Back to the new faction. The Empire of the Rising Sun has plenty of tricks up its sleeve. They are technologically advanced and boast dominant naval power. For them, the aforementioned transformation capabilities represent an essential role. They are a whole lot different from the opposing forces - Soviet Union and Allies. Normally, the Soviets and Allies have their own strengths and weaknesses. If you've played Red Alert 2, you should recognize most of the facets of these factions.

These similarities with older RA games were intentional and, according to EA reps, they were important for establishing a familiar atmosphere (suitable for the hardcore RA fan-base that is). They also emphasized that each faction gets a range of new powers and units to utilize in battle.
For now, it's a bit too early to estimate whether EA is taking this one in the right direction. One thing we know for certain is that the game should boast plenty of features to entangle you regardless if you prefer single-player or multiplayer. The story-driven campaign denotes over an hour of HD, live-action cutscenes. Each faction involves a set of 8-10 missions, all of which gamers can play solo or with a friend in co-op.
On the whole, the development team might just have what it takes to bring back the Red Alert franchise to its former splendor. You'll be able to get immersed into a world where war zeppelins dominate the skies and armored Tesla Troopers blast everything in sight with electricity-based weaponry.
Then again, the effort to acclimatize to modern-day industry tendencies is always a tricky business, especially when EA attempts to bring a franchise such as Red Alert closer to casual gamers. We can only hope the developers succeed in their endeavor to make an exciting strategy game which appeals to gamers across the board.

| i did play Red Alert 2 a few years ago but since i was not too enthusiastic about RTS games i didn’t persist with them. however i did have fun those few hours i spent in front of the monitor but regardless, i doubt RA3 will bring back even 1 % of that. what does piss me off is this 'live action video" nonsense, i mean for God sake how can anyone take a game serious if after every mission it brings to your eyes 5 minutes of Fox Kids bullshit. ive seen more passion and determination in GMod videos on YouTube. |

| You may have a point there. As long as the game itself is good though, I don't mind much. Makes for a nice and cheesy brake between battles... | ||

| Looks like a festering turd run over, twice. EA has an uncanny ability to fuck over established franchises, I'll give them that. Looks like Generals, even down to the unit designs. Enviroment lacks grip, looks too barren and colorless. Red Alert was always about lots of color. | ||

| As a die-hard RA2 fan, i'm gonna say they will screw it up, and badly. just like they did with C&C3, Generals, and sooner or later Tiberium (wich will be a srew up of Renegade, wich was already a srew-up...) | ||

| Vodoo, FMV is what MAKES C&C games so awesome. | ||

| I've always loved the live-action briefing movies in CNC, EA is doing one thing right by keeping it at least. And coop multiplayer in CNC is nothing new. The last RA game, Yuri's Revenge, had coop campaigns. I like how EA calls it a brand new innovation in their press releases, when Westwood already did it for them before they killed Westwood. |

| I'm with eph, this looks way to similar to Generals.. simply because that it carries the CnC title it will be a guaranteed sell, if it sucks it will be a guaranteed torrent. | ||

| "This intriguing new setting opens the road to wacky and powerful new weapons and technologies such as Tesla coils, heavily armed War Blimps, teleportation, armored bears, intelligent dolphins, floating island fortresses, transforming tanks and so on." Tesla coils, Kirovs, teleportation and dolphins aren't really anything new. This just seems like something between yet another expansion pack of RA2 and a TC for Generals.. |

| I miss the realism with a tang of sci-fi from the original and its expansions, somehow Ra2 and all of the newer C&C games have just failed to establish that sort of "serious" war feel but with cool stuff, its all flame tank, ninja jumpjets and aliens... | ||
