AT: Excellent animation system for the human units, guys! Can you tell us a bit about the technology behind it?
HS: Thank you very much! For all of the infantry (and characters) in the game we've used motion capture for the animations. It really makes a difference when you have access to professional motion capture actors.
AT: Ballistics seem to play an important role in the gameplay. Please elaborate a bit on this - the technology behind it, gameplay implications, etc.
HS: Units rely on a clear firing path to attack their targets but with ballistic weapons (grenade launchers, artillery etc) units are able to attack otherwise "hidden" units. Ballistic weapons are powerful in that they almost always can 'attack' the enemy but their high trajectory and relatively long time to reach the target allows observant commanders to detect and even evade incoming artillery strikes. The fully free roaming camera truly excels in allowing players to get an excellent overview of the battlefield. In addition it is possible to follow the smoke and grenade effects to where the enemy artillery is positioned... For best artillery use - shoot, move, deploy shoot!
AT: The co-op mode in Ground Control 2 sounds really exciting. How will that work exactly?
HS: Players will be able to play the single player campaigns, up to three players over LAN or Internet. The enemy resistance is slightly increased for each additional player but otherwise the mission stays the same. Each player controls his own dropship and battlefield units. The Acquisition Points gained are split among the players so compared to a solo game the players will control a lesser force.
