A commendable improvement over the console versions can be observed in beefed up graphics that should match today's visual standards on the PC. The crucial change, however, is in the availability of new resolution modes, which now go all the way up to 1600*1200 and even higher (according to the graphics card on your system). Of course, you all know what this means, right? You'll be seeing sharper and more discernable objects in the background, as well as an overall visual improvement. The designing team is also fine-tuning the environment and models by using uncompressed textures. Overall, it should be a reasonable perk up over PS2 and Xbox versions. Just check out some of the exclusive PC screenshots we have lined up for you!
The PC version of kill.switch will also support 3D directional Dolby Digital audio; that is if your sound card supports it. The sound designing team has fitted in EAX support for those with Creative Labs sound cards. The bottom line is that you won't regret experiencing the game's audio, particularly if you're packing a DD 5.1 surround system (or something stronger).
As you can see, kill.switch holds a sufficient amount of features that could easily warm the hearts of PC gamers. The game is strictly about solo-operative-against-all type of action, leaving precious little scope for any multiplayer action. All the same, there seems to be plenty of goodness in the game that promises to draw in every type of gamer, particularly those keen on classic third-person shooters. March is not that far away, so we impatiently await any playable builds or demos. Be on the lookout for this one when it comes out.
A bit on Namco's future plans
As for Namco, currently, the word is that the company is planning to expand upon some of its franchises. Some speculations recently emerged that they could have a few spare ideas to extend kill.switch and eventually build in multiplayer support, which would allow you to enjoy exciting firefights against you friends. At this time though, there has been no official word as to whether the company intends to realize this idea. But from what we've gathered, the community of fans who've enjoyed the single-player ride of the console version, already hunger for an additional MP experience. Well, Namco still needs to resolve that one. In the meantime they are also pretty serious about releasing Dead to Rights 2, which I'm sure will intrigue anyone who enjoyed the original.
