| » All About Mirror's Edge on ActionTrip | |
The inevitable Matrix feel is there, of course. Most of the chase scenes will remind you of Neo and Trinity, as they try to elude persistent agents. Since we brought up The Matrix, it appears that DICE is going to offer its own take on Bullet Time, which they are calling Reaction Time. You accumulate Reaction Time by pulling off a number of slick acrobatic moves. Reaction Time (i.e. slowing down time) is best suited for fine-tuning huge leaps or executing more complex moves.
![]() This does not bode well. |

The whole idea behind Mirror's Edge is to give players a "feeling of motion" as they stride across rooftops and attempt to evade being caught by the government.
Assuming Mirror's Edge doesn't get hampered somewhere along the line with strict publisher deadlines or potential technical issues, it certainly appears as if the game could become more than your average Matrix/Assassin's Creed look-alike. We're keeping our eyes open for in-game footage, but from what was revealed thus far this one has a fair chance of actually pushing the boundaries of the genre further than most major modern-day FPSs have done.
The game is scheduled to arrive later this year for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms.

| I fucking **HATE** head bobs in games. Go try walking or running (I know many of you haven't in a while). Yes, your head moves up and down. But your brain FIXES that! You can see clearly and steadily as long as you're looking ahead. Gah! | ||
Hei: I always thought that the head-bobbing was to reflect the ef... tei187: well, you're wrong :) skribb: Hold your horses tei. It could be both, couldn't it?

| now that you mention it cr3am, head-bobbing doesnt make any sense...it just plain doesnt happen in real-life. | ||
skribb: I reckon there's a tiny bit of headbobbing involved in runni...

| Yeah, you shift side to side and up and down a bit when you run, but really, if you're looking forward, you can fixate on one point, keep steady vision and YET be fully aware that you're moving ever so slightly. The way the make headbobbing out in most games makes me wanna vomit from motion sickness. Its retarded. If anything, they can have the crosshair shake in an up and down "U" pattern, like in real life. |
