For tackling the winged giant, I was equipped with a rocket launcher that can also be used as a chaingun in secondary fire mode. Considering how huge the mofo was (the monster, not the gun); there was really no doubt in my mind that I would use up every last bit of ammo I had on me, and I was damn right! Still, you know, being huge, threatening and having a really thick skin doesn't make you more powerful than a ballistic missile, and that is something our mammoth boss creature had to learn the hard way (A valuable lesson we should all keep in mind).
Overall, I got the impression that Painkiller is coming along quite nicely. The environments seem more interactive than before and the gib and character animations are spectacularly fluent and fun to watch (That's because you're a god damn pervert and a weirdo - Ed.). The gameplay itself is pretty straightforward and highly reminiscent of id's early work, but it's very spectacular frantic, and ultimately highly engaging on its own. I just wish People Can Fly would hurry up and get this one done already. I'm in the mood for some old-school multiplayer death matches, coupled with fun, gory and over-the-top arcade shooter violence, and I think Painkiller is just the game to deliver that.
