Tomb Raider: Legend will stay loyal to the original Tomb Raider premise, (Man Magnets -Ed) with the fact Lara's interaction with the environment will be on a much higher level than before. Lara will be able to move more smoothly and perform acrobatic moves in a more satisfying (Milk wagons -Ed) manner and with a high level of authenticity, with improved controls that allow for more precision. The developer stressed out textures will be more detailed and realistic than before, with advanced facial and body animation, while Eidos also announced Lara will have reaction eyes and very fluid motion. Gard has announced the new, modern settings for the new Tomb Raider game, again stressing out too much realism would ruin the atmosphere the series is known for. He believes that, if the settings were too modern, the game would lose some of its charm and take the fun out.
While it is still uncertain when the latest Tomb raider game will be released, the preliminary date has been set for the period between July1, 2005 and June 30, 2006, which is what I call an extendable date. It had been announced before that Tomb Raider: Legend will appear for the next-gen Xbox and the PSP, but this information hasn't gotten another confirmation, so it is still unclear if this info is correct. However, for now we can hope to see the game on the three main gaming platforms of today, PS2, Xbox, and PC.
Part III: Violence
The original Tomb Raider was released almost a decade ago, and in these ten years that Lara Croft spent among us she has had her ups and downs, but she somehow always managed to get up - even after a particularly nasty fall. And as someone once said, your strength lies not in the fact you never fall, but rather in the fact you may fall frequently, but are nevertheless always able to get up and go on. (Yeah, tell that to a person that fell into the Grand Canyon. If they care to listen. If they're left with any ears at all.)
Now, if you care to become very enlightened and pull out as many senseless parables and metaphors out of your sleeve as I do, go and read as much Zen stories as you like... Only have in mind that, as 'That 70s Show' Steven Hyde kindly pointed out, "Where Zen ends, ass kicking begins!" Hope Lara will kick some ass in the Legend; it'll be good to see that girl in action once again (Personal Flotation Devices -Ed). And people, remember to write to Crystal Dynamics. I've already sent them tons of email, asking for the next Lara game - Lara: Behaving Badly. I have a feeling the game would be a huge hit, don't you agree? (I'm sorry, what were we talking about again? -Ed)
