| » All About Velvet Assassin on ActionTrip | |
Like any other action game on the market, Velvet Assassin is destined to hop on the bandwagon by showing its own take on bullet-time. They're calling it the Morphine Mode. The name is logically tied to the setting and it represents Violette pumping morphine into her blood-stream in order to enhance the abilities of her character within the dream-world. Like the stealth abilities, Violette uses upgrades along the way to improve the Morphine Mode, Stamina and any available Firearms. Speaking of Firearms, according to the media released up to now, players get to toy around with the usual arsenal such as handguns, shotguns, snipers, rifles, etc.

That's pretty much all the info we have on the game at the moment. Velvet Assassin runs on the ever-popular Unreal Engine 3 and, from what we've seen, looks fairly up to today's standards, presenting impressive shadows and realistic lighting effects.
While it can easily become a game worthy of titles like NOLF, VA also seems a bit mediocre at this point, showing off little to no innovative gameplay elements. On the other hand, there's still plenty of time make to turn this into a rewarding experience for gamers. Replay Studios invested a considerable amount of time into creating the background of the main character, which could (hopefully) make for a decent and interesting plot (something many games sorely lack these days).
Expect the game some time in Q3 2008 for the PC and 360.

| This would be better if she was naked the whole time. I know I sure will be. | ||

| I hope that besides nazis, we'll be able to fight the contrast and bloom too. | ||

| Lol, uob. Game does look average. Trailer tries to end in a cool way but fails and falls to lame. Weird that they left it like that. |

| let’s see if i can guess the final level of the game.... you have to stop Elton John from playing a dynamite rigged piano and causing a new evil to emerge upon the earth: THE FUNK. *dum, dum, duuuuum* |

| That video was quite unimpressive. There is no reason anyone should be able to take gun shots like they were a polar bear, especially in a WWII game where futuristic explanations for the impossible are illogical. Head shots should definitely be lethal and body shots should at least incapacitate a foe for a few seconds... especially in a stealth game. Some rebalancing of weapon power and hp are necessary before I consider playing this. And even still, there are so many other games with the exact same mechanics. I doubt a WWII story will be compelling enough to justify the purchase of this game when I already own about 5 other games that can satisfy the needs this game addresses. | ||

| Well at least their not making some sort of tit monster...or ass monster....that'd be REALLY unrealistic. | ||

| Oddly enough, tit monsters and ass monsters usually work. | ||

| Ass monkeys? Or ass monsters? Or assload of monkeys and monsters? Did you write tit? |

| I've been a huge PC gamer; and I remember another stealth game that had a female character as the lead person. Stolen! True this game wasnt the top game or anything like that; in fact I think after it sold, the company went under lol Lets see if I can find a link or two but in the meantime; you played Anya a master thief who was set out to steal a bunch of jewels and such while uncovering an interesting plot :) http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p24372.htm And another female lead character in an action/shooter/acrobatic game: Oni http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oni_%28video_game%29 |
