F.E.A.R. 2 PC Demo Available
Monolith finally releases a playable demo for their promising horror themed sequel shooter. Download the playable 1.8GB demo for F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin right here.

Okay, I have to point out that due to technical difficulties, the demo isn't currently available on our our servers, which is why I've included a link to another web site. Sorry about that, we're working to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Here's a quick reminder of what the game is about (which I'm sure you don't really need, since they've already explained it dozens of times with a buttload of trailers):

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is, according to Monolith, an effort to pick up the story where F.E.A.R. ended. You play as Delta Force operative Michael Beckett. Armacham HQ explodes and you find yourself in a troop transport that's tasked with extracting company prez Genevieve Aristide. Chaos and devastation are everywhere in the city of Auburn. Pretty soon you come across the overwhelming horror that is Alma. She has been freed and her rage knows no bounds.

Be on the lookout for F.E.A.R. 2 next month for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Allright allright, keep your pants on. Jesus!

I wouldn't even play the demo, I know it's a game I'll buy (yes buy). True, it's another rail shooter, but it's one that bring one satisfying ride. So I'll just wait for the full release.
Ftmch [mail] Jan 22 2009, 09:02 am EST
Downloading it now, I'll let you know how good/bad it is.
DeviantSmacktar [mail] Jan 22 2009, 10:13 am EST
Grabbed it from Filefront earlier this morning, and WOW, the demo is great, just like fear only better, glad too see there are still some game companies that give a shit about there IP's

Heartening to hear, Deviant. The new weapon trailers sure crank up the hype a notch for this one.

I hope those technical difficulties are soon overcome... the european mirrors on that site are garbage and Filefront still only gets me slightly above 200kbps, meaning 2+ hours of download. Chances are AT won't get me better speeds, but eh, then I'll just leave it for another time.

Michael Beckett? I wonder if that is a subtle nod to Stargate Atlantis.

Then again Mass Effect had "John Shepard" as the default name and I'm pretty sure that was just a coincidence.

It's annoying that there are only a handful of sites that have the demo. ARGH! Everything is tooo slllloooowww....getting a fucking 0.8kbps man!
daver18qc [mail] Jan 22 2009, 12:47 pm EST

Fuckd__4_Life [mail] Jan 22 2009, 01:00 am EST

man played the demo and trust me..it's good it's not like OMFG but good i kind of miss the old fear in graphics i max this new fear but there is something with the textures and melee and blood but the scary part's are not absent in fact it caught me a couple of times it' really good demo and the graphic's are nice but there is a issue with the engine which causes random stuttering so if you expirience it don't think it's about your hardware simply lover the texture resolution to medium which i haven't but for those who want ŁoŁ..anyway nice game..i was wondering can you rape alma?or some shit like that i mean she's naked all the time :D and pretty grown up so wtf is he a gay or some shit? haah mir i dobro :D

Just finished the Pc demo and well good news and bad news. Good news is its still scary :)... Bad news imoa, it feels like a console port... fxck I hope I'm wrong for the final version. The interface and the whole big guns, bright lights and looking through a visor new look is not working for me sigh... what u guys think?
thexray [mail] Jan 22 2009, 09:40 am EST
That's it! One day, I'm gonna destroy every fucking console in the world...

I agree with you Joker, its a good game, but it feels like Call of Duty 6 to me, not Fear 2. Everything is scripted to almost the exact same fight each time, and there are almost no possible flanking paths for the AI to use. And it seems like the AI is dumber, cause they rarely grenade anymore, and miss half the time they do. They always go straight to cover and stay there, they hardly move around at all, and not one of them has charged me yet. Like I said it feels like Call of Duty 6 to me, I'm quite disappointed cause I wanted Fear 2.

Tried it, I kinda like the interface helmet style, but it's all way too grainy for me, it's like a cheap photoshop filter. Overall it's the same shit with even creepier game play, if being sweaty and not being able to sleep at night is your thing then go for it.. I wouldn't recommend it as a buy though, there is absolutely no real replay value to this at all, where the fuck is a decent shooter when you need one.
nickfx2 [mail] Jan 22 2009, 01:59 am EST
i hate the helmet view and the theater grain effect they have put in.makes me strain my eyes even more for detail. i liked the sharper FEAR gfx better. oh n not a tad scary. i think the whole thing about alma being ur mom spoils it for me. dont worry baby, mommy will take care of u. shes got superpowers. oh n sthing about the crosshair just makes it feel consoley which i hate on the pc
Fuckd__4_Life [mail] Jan 23 2009, 03:47 am EST
Alma is your MOM?! WTF?! I didn't know that...or is that a joke or something?

I like the grain filter. Makes the game look soft...and blurry...and slightly colorless and that works. I don't mind the helmet view. Other than the HUD, nothing is bent, right? What's the difference! I loved the demo. The scare is just right. The school action piece was fantastic. The graphics and sound is top notch. First day for me!

Played a second time through it, with the annoying stutter glitch. The film grain for me is very irritating just wish they had an option to switch it off. The enemies for some reason when u engage them they lit up to a gray/white light that's surrounds them, I can images its part of the new look for Fear 2, but it feels off as if the game is being played with a gamepad in mind and telling u look for the big/bright lit enemies to make it easier...The enemies and guns feel to Big and the movement feels slow reminds me of Farcry 2 also had the same feel for me big interface/guns and console like movement.... also what is up with the Art direction it has a Blade Runner/futuristic feel as with the old Fear it was more present day and the look and feel of the game was well suited for the story. I don't know maybe I'm to critical. We will see when the final game comes out. Lets hope for the best. Uninstalling......

When did proper grammar and punctuation become something bad?

Anyway, I loved the and I'm definitely buying the game on Steam. I just hope there's a pre-order discount offer.
