Mass Effect PC Coming in May '08

Alright you PC whores, here's the moment you've all been waiting for. BioWare and EA at long last confirmed that the PC version of the popular Xbox 360 sci-fi RPG is coming. Here's what they promised for the PC edition:
  • Optimized controls designed specifically for the PC.
  • High resolution visuals – Mass Effect for the PC features highly detailed textures, characters and environments.
  • Fully customizable controls – PC gamers can re-map the control scheme any way they like.
  • Run & Gun Control – Players can assign biotic powers or skills to ‘hot keys’ allowing them to play Mass Effect with a heavier focus on action.
  • New decryption mini-game.
  • New inventory screen GUI and functionality – The enhanced inventory system makes it easier for players to equip and modify their weapons and armor.

I want new content, dammit!

Anyway, the really, really good news is that the game is scheduled to arrive in May this year.

Yup, The Glorious PC Gaming Master Race (tm) is going to get the best version of those games..no way I would buy it for some toaster.

Damn, I flinched 1 month ago and bought a 360 for Mass Effect...

Same here. Yaaay, so I'm not the only sucker around here. Thanks for that, Vol.

I caved in close to a year ago. Granted, there were other reasons for my fall to the dark side, but Mass Effect was still a major contributing factor. I was SURE it would take longer for the PC version to arrive ... I still don't understand why they are deviating from standard procedure with this particular game.

Yeah, Jade Empire took twice as long.

But didn't the first KotOR game come to the PC at about a similar gap of time as Mass Effect? I don't recall that game taking too terribly long to come to the PC either.

Anyway, I suspect the PC version is going to further expose the "meh" qualities of Mass Effect's combat gameplay.

One question: Vista or XP...

Good. If this keep up maybe we'll get Halo 3 too. As long as I don't have to buy a 360 I'm happy.

Minimum spec? My PC is getting quite old now, and I just can't justify the money to replace it!

Wow in May? This sounds a little fishy to me. This seems almost a little too soon. Usually it takes them over a year. If it gets delayed I won't be surprised. I'm hoping if it does get delayed its for new content.

burnart [mail] Feb 12 2008, 12:43 pm EST
