Dungeon Siege 3 Underway
Space Siege isn't the only RPG Gas Powered Games and Chris Taylor have lined-up. Much to our surprise and delight, Chris Taylor reveals -- to Eurogamer.de -- that Dungeon Siege 3 is on its way (yeah, the article's in German).

"There will be some things that are very much like Dungeon Siege 1 and 2, but some things will be simplified. I am done with multi-character parties; I really think that it's all going to be about a single hero. It's too much to manage," he says.

No, multi-character parties, eh? I wonder if this is a step in the right direction. Thoughts?

YES! I'm sick of managing all the extra people in the party, really need to get back to the Diablo-esq days of just 1 guy killing millions of evil minions!

In fact, it would be nice if Mass Effect 2 was with only one person as well.
Vader [STAFF] [mail] Jun 06 2008, 09:02 am EDT
Nah, Mass Effect works very well with multiple characters, if you ask me.

Dungeon Siege 3, a Diablo-esque one-man click fest? Sure I'm in. If that's what they decide on.

I feel kind of lonely in an RPG when my character has no party.... So I think they should include a small party, like 1 mage 1 archer and 1 warrior or something like that...

If I don't have something nice to say, I shouldn't say it at all. If I don't have something nice to say, I shouldn't say it at all. If I don't have something nice to say, I shouldn't say it at all.

Fuck it.

Chris Taylor is a fucking moron who has never pumped out anything more than a slightly, SLIGHTLY above average clickfest and anyone whose time is spent playing would be better off ramming sewing needles down their urethra.

Getting rid of multi-char parties is an excellent move. I never enjoyed single player DS1/2, i hated managing them. The only time I like to manage a party in a game is if its a turn based game. Multiplayer coop lan in DS on the other hand was excellent in both DS1 and 2.

Hopefully they keep the pets in though.

This sucks. The reason I wanted to get this game was multi-character feature. Oh well.
araczynski [mail] Jun 06 2008, 05:11 am EDT
good news for me, i always hated the tagalongs stealing my kills and glory.
CJ_Parker [mail] Jun 06 2008, 06:39 am EDT
They made party management a breeze in the Dungeon Siege games but yet it sucked when you had to stop in the middle of a killing spree just because some dude's inventory was full or some shit had to be swapped in and out from inventory to equipment or when you had to select a certain spell or crap like that.
Or those endless stops in towns at the merchant where it would take hours to sell all the shit that had piled up from looting stuff on each character in the party.
No thx. Single character seems much more fitting for this type of game.

Parties should be reserved for slower paced games and games with less (little) loot so you're not forced to interrupt your travels every few minutes. I'm a strong proponent of games with meaningful loot anyway. Regular enemies should either drop nothing or just a few coins like copper pieces. The XP should be motivation enough to kill stuff. Why spam the player with useless, retarded loot? Just because Diablo and WoW did (do) it? Yeah, real smart. Not.

Fuck.

The first Dungeon Siege was fun. The second Dungeon Siege was shit.
Blurg [mail] Jun 07 2008, 04:19 am EDT
The first Dungeon Siege was an endless grind of monsters along a narrow path. The second Dungeon Siege was also an endless grind of monsters along a narrow path but this time with slightly more humanity.

Doesnt anyone remember that you didnt have to bring anyone along in your party? It was up to the player to decide if he wanted to play solo or with a party. Shouldnt that be how it is?
