Soldier of Fortune: Pay Back - A Budget Title?!

Much to our disappointment, it seems that the newly-surfaced
Soldier of Fortune: Pay Back won't be created by Raven Software after all.
What's even worse, is that now they're saying it will be a value-price project: "Raven isn't developing this game. And it's Activision Value that's publishing it," confirms former member of Raven, Kenn Hoekstra. (Thanks, Bluesnews.)
Sadly, this corroborates my fears that, in light of the recent controversy surrounding violent games, Activision would simply back off from ever attempting to recreate the original concept of the Soldier of Fortune games.
Instead, they've simply opted to milk whatever they can out of the license by using the brand to sell a generic, watered-down, value FPS.

| Violence is games is so damn over rated. I mean if someone is bent on hurting someone he need to look towards video games for inspiration. He could just watch movies instead. | Violence in video games over rated? Its not the sheer act that gives us pleasure or the color red all over our screen. If we wanted to see violence we would just go watch the news. I'm talking about choice! I want to CHOOSE when an arm is blown off of a body (or if its just the leg...below the knee) I want a head to explode just like the old days in Vietnam when my Ma-Deuce was popping heads like watermelons dropped off a building. I want exit wounds! REal VISCERAL carnage! None of this pussy invincible ragdoll shit that seems to permeate every multiplayer game on the market today. Give me evisceration or give me back my baby and put me back out behind enemy lines. If you argue anything to the contrary you don't understand what the first two Soldier of Fortune titles were about, which means your probably a snot nosed little twit. |
