Player Robbed Via Eve Online
It turns out the virtual online word of Eve Online is home to robbers. Word is that one of the game's biggest financial institutions lost a major portion of its deposits as a huge theft took place. One of the bank's controllers pinched around 200bn kredits, swapping them for real cash of £3,115. Once the news broke out, a lot of the bank's customers started withdrawing their virtual cash.

The theft was pulled off by a player known as Ricdic, who's also the EBank's chief executive. The 27-year-old Australian's full identity has not been revealed (other than his first name - Richard).

"Basically this character was one of the people who had been running EBank for a while. He took a bunch of (virtual) money out of the bank, and traded it away for real money," Ned Coker, of Icelandic company CCP which runs Eve, told the Reuters news agency.

Read on.

Interesting things happen in that game, apparently, some huge company in the game was taken down due to someone betraying them etc. awesome!

Eve Online is the playground of the hardcore MMO players. The amount of time that some people put into Eve is amazing, they spend every free moment in Eve. This guy probably felt he deserved a real-life reward for all his time spent in Eve.

EVE Online aka Spreadsheets Online is a fucking joke of a game and so is its user base.
Anticitizen714 [mail] Jul 03 2009, 10:53 am EDT
lulz. I wonder if he'll be charged with a crime.

Oh noes, some nerds had their nerd-money taken from them.
Jedrus [mail] Jul 03 2009, 11:32 am EDT
LOL. That is what happens when you mix money with f*cking games.
You can bet on some Madoff-type dude to get you from behind.

People have already contaminated the real life with their disgraceful greed, so now they’re spreading this disease to the virtual world.

Soon, there will be no difference between a typical MMO and a real, messed up society.

I used to play that game and it was great to get along with other poeple in the Eve Universe. However, the game had 2 huge flaws: it was FULL of fucking assholes who constantly abused the game for their only pimply-faced selfish ends and the Admins were a bunch of retards where it concerned not regulating the game to please everyone who shelled-out the $35 U.S. to play

When you have a small Frigate coming out a Jump Gate only to be attacked a half second later by 12 Battleships sitting on top of the gate and being destroyed in that amount of time...that's not fun! That's akin to a white guy lost in Harlum....AT NIGHT!

I've got 8 closed beta invites for Heroes of Newerth. Which is like DoTa dipped in liquid cocaine then rolled around in crushed diamonds.
first come first served!
Kurio [mail] Jul 03 2009, 12:42 pm EDT
Never heard about heroes of newerth.
what is it about? aside from the very vague description you already gave that is.
barasawa [mail] Jul 03 2009, 01:07 am EDT
Eve has lots of in game embezzlement and con artistry. It's not against their rules. As to Kurio and dylandeville, that's a diablo clone that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with EVE Online!
Alchi [mail] Jul 03 2009, 02:57 am EDT
AHAHAHAHA. That's fkin hilarious.
I can't believe that virtual bankers act the same way the real bankers do ^^
Here's another reason to not trust the banks :D
thestewieman [mail] Jul 03 2009, 06:37 am EDT
not to trust banks over your own stupidity?
my god your stupid!
