The MW2 backlash started this weekend. Here are the key points which had gamers in an uproar:

| boo hoo hoo. bitching, complaining and more bitching.....yep, it's a Monday alright. |

gekido: you obviously don't pay attention to what makes online pc ga... Supcic: Go drink you Kool Aid, console mongoloid.

| they have basically destined the game for crapness then - the ONLY successful games on PC have been ones that have let server-admins run their own custom / dedicated servers. I can't think of a single example of a game (other than an MMO) that had anything remotely close to a successful online game mode that didn't allow custom dedicated servers. Crap. So this means that clans can't run their own servers, competitive gameplay is basically non-existent (by that i mean league). This kills pretty much the whole reason that people still play modern warfare 1. But oh, let me guess - you'll be able to 'rent' your own private servers from whatever mw.net is going to turn out to be. money grab, nothing else. Worst....decision...evar. |

Roboman: Left 4 Dead much? Or wait, maybe they added in server lists,...

| So translating from commercial english to gamer english: - game is dumbed-down - not polished - overpriced - assholes. They want to fight piracy while removing dedicated server. Unless I misunderstand something. -more money grabbing from activision. |

| PUBS 4 LYFE. This is garbage, there is no reason not to at least keep the barebones server browser from the previous Modern Warfare game. It was multitudes better than any matchmaking system can be. God, the concept of forced matchmaking in itself annoys the crap out of me, mm is for a quick game, nothing more. |

| I'm glad I didn't get lost in the hype over this game like everyone else. I figured out that IW had sold their souls to dumbed down console shooters with the first modern warfare. Anyone that thought they were going to do anything else but continue down this avenue and kill off everything that pc gamers love about being pc gamers was just lying to themselves. This is where the industry is going people, to the grave. Everyone sees MS's matchmaking and the average gamer is so lazy and retarded that they think having to re-setup the match all over again after every game is normal. Most have no idea what mods are or persistent servers. To the average gamer that's confusing. They have to search ( read use brain cells) for a sever and then they have to look and the number and figure out if the server is full or not. Then they have look at the ping and understand what that means. Like I said, they are lazy and stupid. Why do all that when they can just hit a single button and the game does everything else for them. The sad truth is, the more we cater to people like this, the easier we make it for them to think, and thus do, less. Essentially we are not only allowing gamers to get dumber, we are asking them to. Fuck american society. I swear we are forcing ourselves to die as ignorant slaves for the benefit of profit maximization. |

| Well, this all fits in nicely with my plan of pirating the game to only play the single-player...granted, the only multiplayer I ever play is TF2, but I despise the idea of "match-making" and no server browser. | ||
optimus slime: Yes siree bob. fringe: Indeed... vindicative pirating ftw. ObiKKa1: Lol, funny how we do congratulate people on pirating games i...

| This makes me glad I'm not really into the Call of Duty series. As McFluff said, it's all about control. | ||

| It's all about anti-piracy. This sounds like a risky attempt at eliminating cracked servers. Oh well. I wasn't planning on buying this one anyway. To me, Call of Duty peaked at United Offensive anyway. |

| Was thinking on buying it to try the famous multiplayer. Oh well, I guess I'll stick to the good ol' single. And there was a price increase I believe. But somehow I think this will cost me only a couple of hours of my time. |

| Legit users will have crappy laggy servers where the host has 0 ping and murders everybody in Matrix style , while pirates will use some form of cracked server, I'm sure. If this situation will persist, I will not buy this game. |

| GrgoljBlaster | [mail] Oct 20 2009, 01:17 am EDT | |
| Activision surely hates modders (or they are just money grabbing whores who sell maps), the only interest I had in MW2 was mapping but since they took it away I absolutely 100% don't care about this game. | ||
| Erandore | [mail] Oct 20 2009, 06:42 am EDT | |
| Piracy, piracy.... Wtf when you pirating a game you'll play only in single-player campaign(10 hours of fun) and when you buying a game you'll play in multi... Why a shooter have a priority on console?... Console can be pirate too! Fucking stupid compagny. |
