Chris Kingsley, CTO of Rebellion said, “DirectX 11 provides opportunities never exploited before in 3D graphical terms, with features such as the Shader Model 5.0 providing better shadow and depth of field aspects to the game, and also multi-threaded rendering enabling the Aliens Vs. Predator futuristic characters and environments to be realised in exacting detail but with absolutely no frame rate issues. We are confident we will deliver a game the fans have been waiting for and one of which we will be very proud.”
Chris Southall, Technical Director at SEGA Europe added, “With the advent of DirectX 11 on PC and the new DirectX 11 class graphics hardware, the increased speed, realism and fidelity of rendering mean that it’s possible to achieve more in a videogame than ever before. SEGA is delighted to be working with Rebellion and AMD to maximise the use of this new technology for Aliens vs. Predator, and we feel both these partners are really doing something very special. Aliens vs. Predator is set to be one of SEGA’s biggest ever titles, and we are very happy that it will also be one of the very first DirectX 11 titles out to market.”
The game will be out in February 2010 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms.

| Dead Space was awesome, and I'd love for Aliens vs Predator to be a) fun and b) scary. | ||

| Yeah, I really hope they make it scary and not just action (atleast when playing as the marine) I still remember me and my friend screaming out of fear when playing the first AvP as 12 year olds. Good times. The way the aliens came crawling at you even though you blew their legs away, acid blood spurting everywhere. Ah. | ||

| DX11 can do wonders in this game, if the DiRT 2 trailer was anything to go by. DAMNIT! I just bought a GTX 280, it was going cheap and was brand new, so i grabbed it. Hoping that games will see PhsyX implementation. But now suddenly everyone is going DX11! WTF? Were is DX10 games? Fck. |

| all developers were waiting for DirectX11, because tessellation and stuff like that are now multi-vendor. u should have known that this was coming. ati was right about PhsyX dying a horrible death when everyone supports DX11. it's easier to support DX11 features and still allow your engine to run in XP, than it was to support DX10 also DX11 will also be available on Vista. also it's easier to port certain DX11 things to OS X and the PS3 because they both support OpenCL (not GL.) |
