Modern Warfare 2 Pirate Arrested
Modern Warfare 2 continues being in the pre-release spotlight. The latest scoop related to Infinity Ward's shooter is that 18-old Christian Del Amo had been arrested by Miami-Dade police yesterday after supposedly trying to sell pirated copies of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Last month, Activision Blizzard hired online investigation firm IPCybercrime to look into suspicious posts on Craigslist advertising Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 bundles for sale.

There were posts spotted on the piracy forums on xbox360iso.com, indicating that Del Amo got a copy of the game and then cracked the copy protection. Pirated digital release copies of Modern Warfare 2 were on torrent sites the very next day.

"We plug leaks every day," said Rob Holmes, owner of IPCybercrime, "but this was one of the biggest ones of the year."

Hm, I plug leaks every day too.

Source.

"DRM, SecuRom and all that other shit we have to put up with."

i pirate a game and get it free, without DRM.

dude that's like getting advances from some guy's hot wife. sex without a ball and chain.
what the fuck would YOU do ?

DRM is just another way of getting money through a meaningless way, much like imposed insurance and most taxes in this bureaucratic fucking world.

just look at the brits for example, god how i pity them.
im_stardust: They should also burn people who use the word " dude ".
jimmy: what about "bro"
Vodoo: you're just jealous i don't use it with you, whore.
jimmy: mmm...whore
im_stardust: See..."whore"...Now you are making progress.
Jedrus: Agree on "imposed insurance and most taxes". ...Oh, and on...

Just one of those times I wish the criminal got away with it.
Jedrus: Who is the criminal here?
Breedy_Mcfluff: Well, obviously the pirate (no time for pirate jokes, arrr).

It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine).

Well, relatively speaking.
It just sickens me to see games evolving to this pathetic commercial BS.

Did anyone mentione quiting gaming? Someone did.
The pesky thought is trying to enter my mind too.

Some kid ? That's one of their biggest arrests ? Weak. At this rate they'll never catch the infamous secretary who cheated at Solitaire.
Zoe [mail] Nov 07 2009, 06:32 pm EST
Hmm, 18 years old and “cracked the copy protection” in how many minutes?
Ha, I say hire him. He has talent. He may not have attended college and received a programming degree, but he has more deprogramming savvy that those that coded the “copy protection”.
People don’t see skill when it kicks them in the teeth.
If Activison/Blizzard doesn’t grab him, the government will.

GrgoljBlaster: The company is called Activision Blizzard, that's all
Ravenitrius: Could always be a white hat.

Poor kid, but then again his greed did him in.. he should have stuck to just pirating shit for himself.
Terminator [mail] Nov 08 2009, 09:43 am EST
No doubt, the kid does have talent. Too bad he doesn't have any common sense. No one is going to hire him now, most companies don't like to have criminals working for them.
Vycka [mail] Nov 08 2009, 10:01 am EST
Hopefully, torrent of the PC version pops up soon enough. Preferably RELOADED.
tei187 [mail] Nov 08 2009, 05:21 pm EST
can't say that i support piracy but i'd like to count it into the liberties of boycott. kind of robin hood-ish
Whisky [mail] Nov 09 2009, 05:41 pm EST
OH NO they got him! I guess it won't be pirated and released everywhere on the net after all. Good Job!

PanteraFan666 [mail] Nov 11 2009, 02:53 pm EST
