Well, we all know that Activision and Infinity Ward have broke a number of sales records with Modern Warfare 2. Meanwhile, Ubisoft has revealed its own sales figures for the recently released action adventure, Assassin's Creed II. They are nowhere near the success of MW 2, albeit they are still pretty decent.

According to the publisher's internal estimates, during the first week Assassin’s Creed II sold 1.6 million units worldwide.

"This represents 32% growth over the first week sales of Assassin’s Creed. Launched in November 2007, Assassin’s Creed remains the fastest selling new video game intellectual property ever in the U.S," says Ubisoft.

The game is a solid improvement over the original. The only thing that worries me is that there are more than 1.6 million assassins on the loose right now. Disturbing to say the least.
