What I miss is Doom and it's simplicity. It has the best story a game could ever have. Run, Kill, Finich the level, Repeat... No boring cinematics, no useless dialogues, just pure fun.

"Fun" is what developers now forget to add to games. Rayman is the only game that I like currently.

Doom was a classic raw shooter. It was also based on very simple FPS gameplay mechanics. Not to mention that it was well-designed and brilliantly executed.

Carmack, I hope you make a similar effort with whatever the hell you're doing with Oculus Rift.

I beg to differ, what made Blizzard stand out as a game maker for me was their brilliant cinematics. Hell, just replaying some of the Protoss campaign videos where the Xel'Naga temple explodes brings tears to me eyes even 10 years later !!

@Vader Doom was excellent, and I still really enjoy it when I fire it up now.

@daver18qc Blizzard's cinematics have always been exceptional. It didn't hurt that the games themselves, particularly from Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness through to Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, were also exceptional.
