» All About Army of Two on ActionTrip

For what it's worth, the game is visually equal to today's top-quality shooters. Character models are very life-like and some areas look awesome, such as the aircraft carrier missions (sweet water effects, excellent atmosphere). The audio is cool, featuring a variety of remarks coming from the two main characters and a pleasing soundtrack to boot. The only objection I have here is that most rifles sound way too similar - I believe my Steyr AUG sounded the same as the enemy's AK-47. Still, it didn't bother me too much.

Whoever designed the levels in this game, clearly didn't bring a lot of effort or imagination into it. The aforementioned aircraft carrier mission is probably the only time you'll feel that special rush you get from other top action games like Halo 3 or Gears of War. Otherwise, the levels tend to feel somewhat repetitive.

Playing Army of Two in multiplayer is extremely fun and is something we definitely recommend (which is also why we've given the game a slightly higher score). The single-player can be entertaining, but for a short time and the flow of the game is seriously hampered by the flawed AI.

If you're really eager to get your hands on a decent single-player shooter, there are plenty of other titles on the market that will deliver a far more rewarding experience (Call of Duty 4 leaps to mind). As for the co-op, EA just might have a very good gameplay concept going with Ao2 and we feel it's something they should look to improve upon in future games.

HIGHS
Looks nice, sounds nice, fun co-op, excellent multiplayer, gives you a chance to experiment with different tactics;

LOWS
Main campaign is too brief, some features in single-player are almost useless in multiplayer, single-player experience weighed down by poor AI, slightly mundane level design.
