» All About BioShock 2 on ActionTrip

Tackling some of the more robust foes gets even more exciting, since you are a Big Daddy yourself now. The 'drill dash' ability, for instance, gives you a particularly devastating edge over most enemies, but then it depends on whether you use it with skill or not. You gather momentum and rush forward, delivering a deadly blow to the enemy, but if you miss, the opponent is sure to take advantage of it. At the same time, you're going to love dual-wielding. This time around, you don't have to switch between plasmids and physical weapons - you use them both simultaneously, which is a lot of fun.

Before I knew it, I was hooked on BioShock once again. Not because of its story or setting or any particularly noteworthy innovation, but rather because of its incredibly well-balanced gameplay and overall smooth combat mechanics that allow for virtually dozens of combinations on the fly.

BioShock 2 has several multiplayer modes including Survival of the Fittest, Civil War, Last Splicer Standing, Capture the Sister, ADAM Grab, Team ADAM Grab and Turf War. I think you're going to appreciate the variety here as well. You have shooting, leveling and even story tidbits to hold your attention during matches. It's quite cool as it happens. Each mode is a great challenge and immensely fun. Plus, it all gives players more reason to keep coming back to the creepy underwater surroundings of Rapture.

Although BioShock 2 isn't as much of an eye-opener for die-hard fans, there are still some well-implemented surprises throughout the single-player campaign, which, naturally, I do not intend to spoil for you guys. Apart from the multiplayer, you'll probably spend around 10-12 hours with the story mode, which isn't too bad (but not too great either). The improvements to the game are not radical, albeit they are not negligible either. Everything shooter fans are hoping for they will find in BioShcok 2. Not only has 2K Marin captured the essence of the first game, but they have made some improvements towards an altogether engaging and extremely challenging shooter. It's just that once you've experienced the original, there's little doubt you'll be fascinated by the setting of the sequel. It's just not the same.

HIGHS
BioShock's well-polished and clever gameplay makes a successful comeback, visually improved, appropriately moody soundtrack, tough AI (it's a good thing in this case, as it leaves plenty of room for combat improvisation), the features allow for addictive combat both in multiplayer and in solo play;

LOWS
Rapture is not as compelling and mysterious as it was in the original, too many familiar elements may disappoint, main campaign is on the short side.

I enjoyed it, quite short as you stated though.

I got alot of hiccups with the game of which I had none with ME2 which I found ironic considering they both used the same engine.

I was bored 30mins in, but I could be bias because I never like FPS much. but that's just me.

Okay, I'm going to play Dead Rising again, the best action game in my opinion.

if the game was released in 2008 (cos bioshock 1 was released on 2007) it would be a hit.

what i mean is the gameplay is the same nearly the same graphics short single player

i m not really interested in multiplayer and i m not wastin 50 bucks just for a mediocre story

not for me so i giv it a 6/10

That's a bit too harsh dude. It's still a great game.
Stinke [mail] Feb 12 2010, 02:19 pm EST
I hate this game.
Vader [STAFF] [mail] Feb 12 2010, 03:00 pm EST
Is there a particular reason for that or are you just babbling randomly.

I let a friend of mine talk me in to purchasing BioShock 2 yesterday. I ended up playing it on Hard setting from the time I got home (11PM) till just before 4AM. I then woke up around 9AM and continued where I left off. The game is a blast, even the multiplayer is fun as hell.

I never played the first game, but now I want to go back and play it. I think the story in the game is great too. Going around trying to find all the voice recordings/hidden areas etc etc. Awesome stuff imo.

Will I liked the game and just beat it, I got to tell the evil ending for this one was a hell of alot better than the first game. Now I'm going to start again but now as A good Big daddy. No more harvesting for me.

ahem....
Bioshock 2 - The Opinion

Bioshock, a game worth the effort of using one's imagination to its fullest and thus brought to life because apparently there was 1 person in this world who got sick of making games about football, blood, bullets, tits and metaphysical shit. (dysphemism)

the spark of entertainment ignited the curiosity and need for diversity in the world of gaming and there was no reason why Bioshock would receive less than cheering ovations but nothing is perfect and it follows that line perfectly because it is simply stupendous....just not the best FPS in the world. (it never had to be or tried to be)

Bioshock 1 & 2 - the best ? NO. more memorable than most of the trash thrown at us ? YES.

B2 from a technical point of view does best what its predecessor couldn't because the universe barely underwent birth. the graphics are the same, agreed, but more fluidity can be felt in the gameplay (pun intended ?) and some VERY SMALL details can be identified that help increase the atmosphere. that is obviously there without a doubt, the sounds and music, the cheesiness of the 50's is there though in many ways it would have been best it it wasn't.

it's hard to give this game a score and i knew this from the very moment a sequel was announced, the game is brilliant....but the charm was over once the credits of the first game started.

Bioshock 1 should have been done properly, graphics, music, story etc.
the first time. why ? so there wouldn't be a reason to make a sequel.

some games SHOULDN'T have sequels, because it ruins the magic of the moment and that's what Bioshock should have been, a sentiment you get watching a movie so good it doesn't need a sequel, reading a book so good it doesn't need a sequel.

damn you 2K Games !!!!

Bioshock 2 is a really good wife.....she's not your first girlfriend....but a good wife.

8/10

if u play it on pc u will be disappointing cos there are simply no improvements in the grpahics

the gameplay is similar

weapons r weak and i dont noe y but the its feels consolish
Vader [STAFF] [mail] Feb 13 2010, 10:24 am EST
Well, from what I hear, there are a lot of bugs in the PC version of B2. They're fixing now though, so it should be ok.
Vodoo [mail] Feb 13 2010, 10:52 am EST
thank god i pirated it then, i seem to have no problems whatsoever compared to the poor fucks who bought it.

anyway, im not disappointed at all other than the fact the game feels shallow due to the obvious reasons i have previously stated.
it feels console-ish because it was made with console market profit in sight, much like every game in the past few years.

there is no true improvement apart from technical polish as i have already said.

best comparison i can make is: if you look at a well done painting of a filthy penis, the artwork, the colours and brush strokes are excellent.....BUT IT'S STILL A FILTHY COCK.
Vader [STAFF] [mail] Feb 13 2010, 12:07 pm EST
That's one of the most cheerful and sophisticated analogies I've ever read in my entire life.
