The WW II setting has its limits, both in terms of story presentation, as well as gameplay. Weapons you get to use throughout the campaign should be more than familiar to any gamer; machines guns, pistols, shotguns and the famous Panzerschreck.
Okay, the flamethrower was really fun to use in this game, since it boasts unlimited ammo and allows you to torch anything that moves within your firing range. Other than that, the gameplay doesn't deviate from the CoD recipe. So, essentially, nothing inventive can be found in that department.
To put it another way, playing the Call of Duty: World at War single-player campaign is like... well, I'd like to quote Edmund E. Blackadder on that: "...one massively disappointing bang and the novelty soon wears off."
At any rate, you'll find that as a single-player experience, the game is far too short and lacks the compelling ambience of Modern Warfare. However, the multiplayer, more specifically the co-op, is where this game truly shines and from that perspective comes highly recommended from us. Should you decided to give it a try, make sure to dive into the all-new Nazi Zombie mode, which puts you and a group of up to 4 players against hordes of vicious zombies (that's when the real fun starts).

ACTIONTRIP SCORE 7.5 Good Four-player co-op kept us busy for days, Nazi zombie mode, character animation, explosions, sound-effects, music; Short and disappointing single-player, weak story, you've played this before... believe me; same old weapons, same old setting. RATINGS GUIDE |
