Every single skill up gives you that visual satisfaction. It is a ton of fun while it lasts. And here is the biggest downfall of the game. Once you have leveled up your abilities and killed off the bosses, there is really not much else to do. The game lets you keep playing and there are ton of achievements to collect, some of which are pretty cool (aka 'Base Jumping'), but there is just not much there to motivate most people to continue playing. You will get about 8-12 hours of insane fun out of this and then you will be wishing for more.

Those of you who have a friend with this game while get a kick out of playing co-op. Even if you completely ignore the missions, you can still have a lot of fun just playing with the environment. See who can make the biggest stack of cars. Race to the top the agency building. Try to jump the farthest in your diesel truck. Or even play catch with a dumpster. You get the idea. The place is so huge that it can be a lot of fun to just mess around with a friend.
Overall Crackdown is a cool concept. If you really want to challenge yourself, then there is a lot more you can do but for most of us, the fun will end when the last boss falls to the ground. However, I believe it stands on it own. Even without the H3 beta thrown in. Taken all together, the complete package is worth every penny. I almost think they should have thrown the Beta on a game that wasn't this good. But that probably would have pissed a lot of people off to buy some "Hello Kitty" game to play Halo 3 beta (Dude shut your pie hole! Hello Kitty kicks ass -Ed). So maybe the beta game being attached to Crackdown was a good idea after all.

ACTIONTRIP SCORE 8.6 Very Good Leveling up abilities is addictive while it last. Open-ended game play is really open. Halo 3 beta. Co-op can be really fun. Blowing stuff up and hurling cars. Not much extra content that "means" anything. Open-ended might be too open. Lack of progressive story-line might put some people off. RATINGS GUIDE |
