With all the God of War clones out now, I'm afraid Dante's Inferno is going to be just another game lost in the shuffle. Beyond the excellent art, chilling hellish ambiance and excellent audio, you won't find much to keep you playing. At times it seems like an interactive, beautifully designed encyclopedia or rather a nifty super guide through the dungeons and hallways of Hell. The action is fun for a while, but ultimately average.
![]() Yeah, I should start going out more. Maybe I'll meet someone else. |

In addition, the story was disappointingly diluted in favor of action, hence all the plot holes were filled by intermittent CG and short gory cartoons. They do give some backstory on Dante, gruesomely illustrating the horrifying atrocities he had done, but they do not contribute much to characterization. Sure it's based on an epic poem which has a classic approach to characters and plot structure, but since they adapted the story they could've at least offered more details to explain the bond between Dante and Beatrice.
If you're not bothered by the fact that Dante's Inferno is yet another blatant copy of God of War and if you're really yearning to dive into Hell itself, this game won't disappoint. This game also hurls a huge chunk of blood and all sorts of "naughty-naughty" content your way, including lovely, pretty much nude bouncing boobies (pre-rendered and in-engine) and tiny weird-looking babies emerging from enormous tits on a huge babe-boss (I'm not making that up). Oh shut up, I know you're all dying for some any type of mature content in a video game.
Gamers who are out for more than mindless blood-splattering carnage might lose interest before they even get to the second level. It's a shame really. As they demonstrated with Dead Space, Visceral Games is capable of more than what they have done with this game.

ACTIONTRIP SCORE 7.1 Good The action, mature content and top-notch presentation keeps you going as you pass what's probably one of the most sinister and realistic depictions of the Underworld in the history of gaming; Little has been achieved by this title as you make your way through the Nine Circles of Hell you become less interested in Dante's journey. btw i like those nude scenes in the beginning
but the game lost me in 2009.
Also i heard that genitalia are use in ranged attacks?
A friends english teacher gave him a review just to point out the difference between the game and the book and explained that the game has no religious focus yet talks about heaven, hell, and sinners (which mostly all involve some sort of religious belief), and also mention the lady who shoots babies out of her jugs, which sounds pretty awesome for a game that is loosely, and i mean loosely based on a book that has no actual violence beteen Dante and anything in Hell (I mostly read the book, wasn't that great of a student in High School)
