If we disregard these weaknesses, what's left is an incredibly deep gaming experience that successfully merges action-packed gameplay with plenty of well-implemented RPG elements. Weapons can be built and repaired; plus, there are enough of them to suit anybody's taste, both melee and ranged. Again, we encounter an RPG with a small and relatively disappointing choice of armor. Most of them are very basic and easy to come by.

Before we wrap things up, I really must say I initially expected a slightly more epic feel during certain segments of the game. Some scenes are a bit underwhelming, as is the very ending of the game. You arrive to an undiscovered specific location expecting something exciting to happen, but it's usually over very quickly and the new area doesn't look as elaborate as you might've anticipated. This is a matter of opinion, naturally.
There's a certain type of atmosphere the folks at Bethesda set out to create and I still think they've done a marvelous job. It's an eerily barren world out there, filled with many perils. For the most part, the environment looks incredible. The developer's attention to detail is truly admirable in that sense. The game's engine plays its part well, making way for a wide variety of objects in the environment, particularly outdoors. Things were spiced up with a cool soundtrack, excellent sound effects and great voiceovers.
For me, completing Fallout 3 wasn't a lengthy experience, although I haven't strayed too much from the main story (except, of course, to try out a few side-quests). When I finished it, I returned to the game to check out some of the locations I missed the first time around. The map is enormous and if you take the time to visit as many areas as you can, F3 should provide days of first-class entertainment.
There are many things to like about Bethesda's latest endeavor, but there are also some downsides to it, so, ultimately, you decide if they should stop you from shelling out 60 bucks (50 if you're playing it on the PC). If nothing else, we recommend you give it a whirl. Chances are you won't be sorry.

ACTIONTRIP SCORE 8.7 Very Good Incredibly deep RPG experience that's equally appealing to action game enthusiasts, highly detailed and realistic-looking post-apocalyptic surroundings, great music and sound effects; Enemy and friendly AI glitches, targeting behind cover is buggish, the devs. toned down the epic feel somewhat.
