![]() 9.4 Excellent Excellently designed and polished game, squad multiplayer, co-op, incredible graphics and sound; Sprinting can feel buggy at times, sprint and cover shouldn't be on the same button, lacks more game modes in multi-play, storyline is a bit sparse. RATINGS GUIDE |

One note on dieing, when you lose all your health your teammates usually have an opportunity to heal you if they get to you before you "bleed out". Try not to die at a location where they will have a hard time getting to you. In other words, don't charge the enemy and expect your team to come save you because you were an idiot.
Now, onto the "flaws" of GoW. Mind you, these can be very nit-picky, but I had to find something wrong with the game. This is what I came up with.
If you are going to use the chainsaw, you need to learn the ropes of sprinting. You are never going to get close to the enemy otherwise. The A button (which you use to sprint) is also used to take cover. Here is where it gets tricky. There are a lot of places to take cover in the game. There is nothing more frustrating than seeing an opponent with his back turned, hitting the sprint button to do a chainsaw charge, only to get sucked into the nearest cover objects. And when I say "sucked", I mean it - sucked! I wasn't even near it. Ok, I was close but not that close. Learning just how close you can go will be a big part of your ability to survive in both the campaign and online.
As usual, it all comes down to my initial opinion; Gears of War is, overall, a fantastic game. I enjoy LAN parties and I love Capture the flag, but you can bet I will be playing GoW just as often, if not more.
