The slightly disappointing shooting segment wasn't much of a problem for us. The developers haven't approached this game as a shooter, therefore neither have we. We tended to use the less violent style of play, resulting in the kind of experience you'd expect when controlling a Runner.

On the subject of graphics and sound, the people at DICE absolutely did their best to make it feel as real as possible. Hearing Faith's footsteps and the sound of her breathing, will no doubt make your heart pound like crazy. No other game on the market offers such a satisfying rush of adrenaline. To top it off, the environments are cool, both outdoor and indoor. The slick design makes the world look very compelling.
Mirror's Edge should encourage other game designers to start thinking differently, steering away from mundane industry tendencies. Well done, DICE. The relatively short and linear single-player is, sadly, another reason why we feel this game won't get a lot of positive feedback. Here's hoping for proper DLC and a considerably longer sequel.
More than anything else, we applaud the idea, effort and creativity behind this project. It's not quite as ground-breaking as, say, Valve's Portal, but it's almost as ambitious. If publishers spent half as much time investing into such new and original game concepts as they pour into milking overrated franchises, a majority of games would be far more enjoyable than they are today. PC gamers should keep a lookout for this one during January 2009 (we'll be reviewing the PC version separately).

ACTIONTRIP SCORE 8.8 Very Good Very imaginative, adrenaline-pumping chases are a blast, excellent soundtrack, cool art direction, if you want something different, try this; Shooting and hand-to-hand combat feels awkward at times, the trial-and-error slows the pace of the game, single-player's a bit on the short side.
