As it happens, true-hearted Resident Evil fans will be after a challenging single-player mode with a rich story and strong replayability. Now, as far as the storyline goes, things are okay. Although, we still think Resident Evil 4 was considerably better in that sense. Resident Evil 5 is a bit different. Passionate Resi players may be after more than unlocking new outfits and grabbing the occasional Achievement (or Trophy). Make no mistake, replaying this game can be fun, albeit not nearly as fun as the previous installment, hence you're better off playing it with a friend. The devs also threw in an extremely entertaining Mercenaries mode, which was added to accompany the game's release and is currently available via Xbox Live.

Regardless of certain faults this is still an exciting survival horror game that remains true to the series' trademark gameplay mechanics, as well as its spine-chilling atmosphere. Also, Resident Evil 5 has some of the most impressive character models we've ever seen in a video game. Some of the indoor and outdoor environments are literarily stunning - our compliments to the designers in that respect. Voiceovers, music, and sound effects are equally appealing and were skillfully woven into the game's compelling ambience. Another compliment goes out to the folks behind the monster designs, which are disturbing and scary to say the least (we've always admired Capcom for their imaginative designers and artists).
We haven't tried out the PS3 version, although the Xbox 360 edition proved to be more than satisfying, both in terms of graphics and gameplay. We honestly hope Capcom decides to deliver a PC port, worthy of the game's console versions. Hm, perhaps it's high time you added mouse support, eh guys?

ACTIONTRIP SCORE 8.8 Very Good Co-op is the defining moment of innovation for the franchise, stunning visuals, monster design creepy as usual, terrific atmosphere, a great survival horror experience; The single-player suffers on account of AI slip-ups, we expected more eye-openers in the game's narrative, not quite as replayable as RE 4.
