» All About Too Human on ActionTrip

On another positive note, Too Human does have a tiny ounce of replayability thanks to the 5 unique character classes on offer - champion, commando, bioengineer, berserker and defender. Each has a distinctive set of powers, skills and weapons to wield. You may have a little extra fun with the game's 2-player online co-op, which allows players to go through the campaign with a friend, skip the cut-scenes and just enjoy the combat. Unfortunately, that's about as good as it gets for Too Human. Technically the game has a variety of serious flaws, from retarded friendly AI-controlled soldiers jamming on obstacles to the God-awful camera. What's more, allies are freakin' useless and will rarely make a difference during battle. Much of the combat feels clunky and very awkward, especially when you try to swing a sword or hammer in a desired direction.

The frequently choppy frame-rate doesn't help much either. This usually happens when the screen is clogged with lots of enemies. While we're on the subject of enemies, you'll find that the game boils down to taking out countless cybernetic beings that look very similar. You can expect occasional boss fights, but those are mostly underwhelming.

Most gamers are bound to complete the main campaign very quickly and when they do, they'll have precious little to remember it by. What's more to the point, Too Human offers a rather lousy rendition of well-known characters and deities from the Norse mythology. The gameplay feels like it could've amounted to so much more than a routine sequence of smashing the living crap out of the same types of enemies over and over again; alas, it didn't. The classes and the huge amount of skills are mildly entertaining. You could rent the game and try it out, but that's as far as I'd go.

HIGHS
Rewarding skill system, tons of items and weapons to toy around with, 2-play co-op is fun.

LOWS
Steepish learning curve, dreary story, you are tossed in an endless cycle of repetitive levels and similar-looking enemies, short and technically flawed, frame-rate issues.
