» All About Eragon on ActionTrip

The redeeming factor for Eragon could be the dragon rides, as you get to mount your sister-dragon, and even fight on her back. This segment of gameplay was fairly underused, however. On second thought, in all fairness, the measure was probably just right, as I somehow find that "racing" interludes in a combat RPG can feel awkward and excessive at times.

Finally, being a movie tie-in and a console port, Eragon certainly won't take you a long time to finish, and the replay value is pretty low. All these things should be factored in when deciding whether you want to purchase it or not.

Personally, I'm more inclined to tell you to get it and play it than to leave it alone. The combat is very fun. Take that for what it's worth though. Fans of the book(s) will surely want to play it.

On a side note, having not read the books or watched the movie, I must say that what I got from the whole Eragon universe is that it's pretty generic, making me wonder sometimes how some of these rather derivative stories get to achieve such commercial success. Then again, I had the same feeling about Harry Potter. Shows how much I know.
