![]() | "Why So Serious?" Nov. 17, 2008 |
![]() 9.0 Excellent Great, compelling storyline, beautiful graphics, soundtrack, spells and spell casting, humor, character, side-quests; Linear map design, melee combat and stats system too simplistic, some redundant features that could've played a bigger role in the game. RATINGS GUIDE |

Granted, some much-ballyhooed features like being able to marry and own property, still don't play as significant a role as they could have in the game, but I guess I only bitch about those because Peter Molyneux used to talk about them so much. If he'd spent half as much time coding as he did running off at the mouth, there'd be more to this paragraph, but hey - nobody's perfect.
In the end Fable is not as grand as Peter made it sound in the early stages of its development, but it's still an outstanding video game. The Lost Chapters is a quality port that adds more content as well as perfects the existing gameplay. Every single fan of great storytelling and compelling single-player fantasy RPGs should own this one. PC gamers who have never played the original should definitely grab it and even those of you who have finished the Xbox version should give The Lost Chapters a try - I believe it will be gaming time/money well spent.
In a way, this title has restored my faith in Lionhead, and now I await impatiently their next game, The Movies. They bring to the gaming industry a bit of heart and soul, a bit of enthusiasm, and that is always a good thing in my book... even if too much enthusiasm backfires sometimes.

| Out-fucking-standing. I was hoping this'd be worth picking up. Now, if I could only find time to play the damn thing I'd be set. | ||

| Awesome timing, I just finished Fallout 2 (for the first time!) and I need another RPG fix. | ||

| Sounds good from the review. One question for you, 2lions (or anyone else that has played it or the XBOX version) - how do the RPG elements compare to Pirates of the Carribean? For some reason something about this game, maybe the "action RPG" bit, makes me think of PotC. That was a game I was really excited about but didn't quite live up to what I expected (mainly because of its "Disney-fication"). You said they were fairly basic so I just wondered how basic "basic" is. | ||

| Well it's basic. And the game is nothing like PotC. It has its own upsides though, and I would recommend it to anyone. | ||
danishpussy: Sweet, I had high hopes for this one, and it sounds like it ... 2lions: It's less involved than Dungeon Siege 2. Again, this "RPG" i... danishpussy: KOTOR is less involved than Dungeon Siege 2? Not in my book... | ||

| Fanboy! Anyways, the game is pretty fucking cool shit, if you like dumbed down RPGs like me and I am greatly enjoying it. Melee combat rocks since all I have to do is slice and dice repeatedly until my sword turns flashy and click my right mouse button. Woohoo. As far as the whole game is concerned, I wouldn't know, I am just done doing about 4-5 quests. That's all. | ||
