The game touts itself on the back of the box as 'a unique blend of RTS/RPG/SIM and is a helluva-lotta fun.' The game does marry all of those genres to a certain extent as you do recruit new units after gathering money from your criminal activities (like an RTS), your units do gain experience and increase their skills (like an RPG) and you get sub commanders for your gang by meeting a woman, marrying her, and raising kids (ala The Sims). It's an interesting concept but it just did not really catch my fancy... and I also had to deal with all of the abovementioned gameplay drawbacks. In short, after doing this review, I certainly don't feel the incentive to play the game again, and I'm afraid neither will anyone else (especially not until they fix the save option thing).

ACTIONTRIP SCORE 5.9 Okay Decent graphics and voiceovers, fun multiplayer, no major technical flaws; Tiring copy protection scheme, slow opening, generally linear gameplay, no save option, incomplete vehicle physics, extremely low replayability. RATINGS GUIDE |
