On the other hand, even though I was often frustrated with the Space Invaders-like elements in the core gameplay, the game as a whole is definitely immersive and addictive enough that it will make the time fly. I truly lost all track of time while playing this one. I sat down at around 8PM to play and was interrupted by the wife at around 2AM, asking me if I would be merciful enough to turn my 5.1 speakers off while the kid is sleeping.
The animation of the characters (the motion-captured sequences) is amazingly like like and so are the characters' facial expressions. It is this feature that made it so easy to identify with the protagonists. Also, the non-linear elements that have been emphasized so well in the demo, do play their part in the game, so that's one of the reasons why Indigo Prophecy may have some sort of (albeit not very significant) replay value. If the entire game played like in the demo, things would've certainly been much better in those regards. Alas, the rather lacking action sequences play an increasingly noteworthy role in the later stages of the game, right up to the end sequence.
Despite some of its drawbacks, however, Indigo Prophecy manages to captivate the player in every possible way. It's a very good game, but not an excellent one. A little more function to go with the gorgeous style and gripping narrative, and this would be a game for the ages.

ACTIONTRIP SCORE 8.4 Very Good Fantastic story, characters, cinematic experience, immersion factor, voice acting, superb soundtrack; Too much focus gameplay-wise on repetitive and simplistic action sequences, awkward controls if you are a PC gamer, camera issues. RATINGS GUIDE |
