While Spore doesn't make any breakthroughs in terms of graphics, it certain reels you in with its highly compelling atmosphere. The superb and slick design, coupled with Brian Eno's masterfully composed soundtrack will keep you occupied for days. The project had top-notch production values and it certainly shows.

![]() I told you we should've put in more than five Sporebucks worth of fuel! |
Spore is an impressive and ambitious mix of game genres. Perhaps at some point, the developers saw it as overambitious, so it's obvious they started losing perspective a bit. What's more, those seeking more of a cinematic experience should probably look elsewhere, since Spore doesn't encompass any type of involving story or characterization. As such, the experience seems to be a bit more random than it should.
What we really did enjoy is the humor, which is present practically around every corner, ranging from the hilariously animated weird-looking entities making silly gestures, to delightful mating dances. In other words, we do recommend the game. Start playing and see where your imagination can take you. This game inspires players to come up with a range of truly amazing creations. It triggers creativity perhaps more than any other title on the market and that deserves respect. In addition, Spore already has a thriving community and great online potential, which is something both Maxis and Electronic Arts are fully aware of. Therefore, we urge you play the game online in order to check out the ever-expanding Sporepedia and other cool content. Also, you'll be able to experience entire worlds and land on planets created by other players.

ACTIONTRIP SCORE 8.1 Very Good Incredibly detailed life creation sim, intuitive and easy-to-learn, imaginatively showing various stages of evolution of your very own custom-made species, admirable production values, solid replayability, great online potential, very funny at times; Could disappoint as a single-player experience, some stages are too simple and feel slightly random when compared to others.
