For myself, I found playing some of the scenarios quite enjoyable because I had a clear goal. The American invasion and occupation of Iraq is one of those. After using an obscenely large number of nukes on military targets, I rolled several divisions of tanks into Iraq and it quickly fell under my control. Mission accomplished. Who cares that the American people and the world community wanted my head on a pike; I was a winner, baby!! Woohoo!! Fire up the ticker tape parade! But stick me in freeform mode and I fall to pieces because I'm not sure what I want to do. I guess I'm not as megalomaniacal as I thought. With only nine scenarios right out of the box, I would be sitting and scratching my head wondering what to do next as soon as I finished them.
The saving grace here is the toolkit that is included, which allows users to create their own mods and scenarios and then trade them over the Internet. So if enough players were to create additional scenarios, I would be saved from my own lack of imagination.
Anyone who has ever watched the movie WarGames and thought 'That'd be cool' as the computer fired missiles all over the digital globe will want to try SuperPower 2. Traditional strategic and war gamers alike will be in heaven with the wealth of features to tweak and manage as you carve out your destiny in the real world-based computer simulation. I hope that the casual and twitch and shoot gamer will take the time to give this title a look. At the very least, it will help them find all those far-flung countries they hear about on the news all the time, on a map. You know, like Canada.

ACTIONTRIP SCORE 7.3 Good Ability to wage war in real world simulation, control your county's economic, political and military forces, 32-player multiplayer support; Game could be viewed as having too much freedom after scenarios are, completed, and it doesn't take too long to complete them, not enough graphical 'flash' for jaded gamers, players feel stupid when they cannot find Greece on the world map.
