![]() 4.0 Tolerable The description of the significant history events are designed in an interesting and unique fashion. Some of the environment animations are quite beautiful... The game is deficient in adventure elements and too short, small variety of fighting moves, a poor selection of weapons, a few insufficient movements of the main characters. If you step aside and notice how the knights fight on their own, you will observe that they use only one particular move. This looks rather pathetic. RATINGS GUIDE |

Sometimes the dynamic music score will add the feeling of tension and suspense to the game's atmosphere. Unfortunately, this is not enough to keep your attention for a longer period. The game will be finished before you can say - ' What the #@$% ?' A few important game components are also left out. In this sense, Timeline mostly craves more interactive environment details. Some of the scenery looks very nice, however it does need more interactive objects. The plot unfolds very quickly, and you will rarely be obstructed by any kind of problem.

The major lack of details is also attributable to the streets in the town Castleguard (that lies on the banks of the Dordogne river - in the southern parts of France). It is a well-known historical fact that during the 100 years war, between England and France, the streets were filled with so much garbage that you almost couldn't walk through them. While strolling through this area, you will perceive that this fact was totally neglected, and that the streets are cleaner than if they were in Switzerland. Even the doors of the city houses were built a little above the ground in order to avoid the filth of the street. Crichton himself mentioned this in the tour, and yet there's filth to be seen in the game.
I don't want to nit pick, but for a game that ends so quickly, the graphics and animations suck! The adventure aspect of the game is almost non-existing. I haven't been given a chance to scrutinize the book itself, but I gather that it's at least ten times more interesting than the game. TCE is obviously inexperienced. But what on earth were they thinking when they made this? Timeline won't last for a month. The public, which is starving for more mesmerizing and absorbing adventure games, will devour this game like a piece of chips.
There are a few interesting options concerning the worlds of Timeline. You will be given a tour, guided by Michael C. himself. He will take you back to 14th century France and introduce you to every feature and custom in the worlds of Timeline. This is the static part of the game, in which you are only going to watch, examine, and slightly participate. Very motivating! From an educational point of view this feature in the game is commendable. Complete and utter attention is aimed at the historical significance of this age. For instance, in Castleguard you can walk through the streets and back-allies, and you can pick up scrolls that give a rather thorough lecture about that exact location. This product is great for learning history and for getting acquainted with the life style at the time. To comment the playability of the game is unnecessary. Because you don't get to play that much, you mostly just watch an interactive 3D movie, with a cliché story and repetitive events. I'm still recovering from the initial shock that this game gave me when I finished it all of a sudden. The game sucks so badly I cannot seem to recover from the terrible and debilitating side effects. I will by no means encounter any similar products, with the firm intention of actually having fun. When I want to learn more about France & England, I will use the more traditional approach and just take all of the necessary literature from the local library; then, sit down and read in a much more sophisticated and intellectual manner - HA! In conclusion, if it were not for certain graphic qualities, this game would receive a much lower score.
