It is true that some things work better in the expansion. In addition, the fact remains that Vietcong offers an undoubtedly intense and cinematic gaming experience. Sadly, some of the nagging issues that have plagued the original haven't been fixed even after several patches and plenty of time to work out what went wrong in the original. So once again, my verdict would be that the game shows signs of brilliance, but STILL lacks that finishing touch that would make it very good or excellent even. Those who are willing to turn a blind eye to some of the oversights I've mentioned, and enjoy the game for its many qualities, will find it to be a very enjoyable, authentic and powerful recreation of the Vietnam conflict. Personally, I felt like I wanted to play on, but only barely after I've ran into some serious frame rate issues and AI glitches.

ACTIONTRIP SCORE 7.0 Good Good and varied mission design, intense, cinematic and authentic combat, positional audio; Some major drawbacks are back: steep hardware requirements, path-finding and other minor AI issues. RATINGS GUIDE |
