Excellent

HIGHS
It's freaking Zelda! This title stays true to the series, and offers a long, varied and wonderful gameplay experience for all.

LOWS
The game shows that the Wii isn't the PS3, so don't expect it to look that good.

And while the gameplay is top-notch, the technical aspects of the game are more than a bit lacking. For starters, the game continues the Zelda tradition of having little to no voice acting, which might not be a bad thing, as the game still manages to accomplish what other games with voice-acting do in terms of telling an emotionally charged story, while not running the risk of having bad voice acting. The sounds that are there are well-done, and the sound design for the game in general is full of great effects, many of which will be recognizable to fans of the franchise, and the music isn't often repetitive, and generally captures the mood of the game, from participating in one of the silly mini-games that riddle the land of Hyrule or when you're have a climatic jousting battle on top of a giant stone bridge which stretches across a bottomless chasm. Over-all, I would say that this game accomplishes about what any other does with sound, and stays true to the atmosphere and attitude of the series.

From a graphics point of view, the game really shows off how technically inferior the Wii is as a platform. When I first put the title in, and was treated to the opening shot of Link riding Epona by a canyon, I thought, "Why does Legend of Zelda look like a Half-Life mod?" The game isn't very impressive with its graphics from the bajillion-pixels and so much detail that you'll never notice everything school of thought that made Gears of War such a treat on the eyes. It does maintain a good sense of art direction, and if the game had more powerful hardware, it would probably look a lot better. It doesn't look bad due to a lack of trying. But the point really isn't that game isn't pure gold in the graphics department, the point is that after about a half-an-hour of gameplay, you won't notice it anymore. It doesn't matter. The fact that you can't see individual blades of grass everywhere has no effect on how much fun you'll be having. As a result, it's hard to really judge the game based on that standard. It is clearly not what the developers were going for, and it proves that it doesn't matter how great a game looks or doesn't look, it comes down to gameplay to make the game great. I don't care how great the screenshots look; I want to know if the game is fun (yes) and if it shows any titties (no).

Nintendo has continued to innovate their greatest franchise, and prove why they're still a threat in the latest console war. I look forward to more Zelda titles and more titles from Nintendo in general, just after I beat this game, after well more than twenty hours, I feel like I'm just scratching the surface. It's well worth your money, and while I can't speak to the difference between the Gamecube version and Wii version, it makes it feel right and proper to me that money was spent getting a Wii into my hands. Truly magnificent.

I'm playing the GCN version until I find a Wii, and some Wii games are out to make the Wii worth getting.

It starts really slow.
Alkarzar: What games are out now worth getting? I can't find any apart...

Great game and great review. Though I do hope we'll see accurate wii remote - sword movements in the next Zelda game. The controlls were great, much better than using a gamepad, though (aiming aside) it felt kinda like replacing buttons with certain moves, instead of actually controlling the sword with the wii remote.

Quite a few grammatical errors in the review, but good none the less.

I want to play this Zelda the most as it is actually starting to look a lot more mature.
