EA announced today that DICE studio has opened an office in LA to strictly work on their recently acquired Star Wars license.
DICE general manager, Karl-Magnus Troedsson, is excited to work on this project, as is his studio. "People stood up and cheered, when I announced that we were working on Star Wars," he said...

EA bought the rights to create Star Wars games, as you may have read yesterday. So, instead of feeling relieved that we'll get more proper Star Wars games, a lot of people feel a bit concerned given what EA has done with many decent game franchises over the years...

More bad news for the Wii U in terms of getting third-party titles? Fifteen of EA's upcoming titles will not be added to the Wii U library due to the console's incompatibility with the Frostbite 3 Engine from DICE. These games include Mass Effect 4, Battlefield 4, Dragon Age 3, and all off EA's unannounced Star Wars games...

In what seems to be part of their continuing company-wise restructuring plan, EA has shut down three of its Facebook games—The Sims Social, SimCity Social, and Pet Society. As of June 14th, all three of these games will go offline due to a steep decline in player activity...

There have supposedly been a lot of layoffs at publisher EA, with a report claiming this has severely affected the company's dev team in Montreal - a studio devoted to mobile games.
"EA is sharpening its focus to provide games for new platforms and mobile," a spokesperson said to Polygon...
