Hm, well, not bad for a developer that boasts only a few games. Development studio Frozenbyte has confirmed that their platformer Trine, which launched two years ago, sold over 1.1 million copies to date across all platforms. Most of the sales were generated through Steam and the Humble Bundle...

Here's a little reminder from the folks at Frozenbyte. Trine 2, the promising little platformer sequel, is scheduled to arrive for Windows PC and OS X tomorrow (Dec. 7). Of course, you'll be able to grab the game through Steam. "Finally!" says Lauri Hyvärinen, CEO of Frozenbyte, but continues: "Alas, fans will have to wait a little longer for the console versions...

Trine was a very fine platformer, though it could've used a few more extra touches to really make it, well, sparkle and stand out from the rest of the crowd. Of course, developer Frozenbyte has a chance to make it even better with Trine 2. Publisher Nobilis announced that a downloadable PlayStation 3 version of Trine, the sexy-looking platformer, is going to be available in the US on October 22. Yes, the $20 PlayStation 3 edition is finally on its way. If you guys didn't get a chance to check out this game, you really should, ya know.

In a sea of action games, action adventures, MMOGs (read: WoW) and strategies, a traditional side-scrolling platformer is more than welcome, at least that's what we feel. Trine is a puzzle oriented game too, which means you get to use your brain a little bit along the way... that doesn't sound too bad, now does it? Check out our Trine (PC) review.
