I used to have a pretty good notion of where this industry is going, although
I'm not so sure now. Normally, I'd be convinced that EA and Blactivsion will
take over the world with MMORPGs and Call of Duties and yet Skyrim is a testimony
that gamers still want the single-player RPG experience...

Paycheck just arrived and, boy, that just feels like somebody has just given
me the entire fucking world!!! Bloody economy. What's really fucked up is that
more than half of that money has to cover stuff like rent, bills, various monthly
expenses etc. FUCK!
The good news is, I managed to snatch enough cash for a distinctly geekish
purchase.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries for the 3DS does not allow for save game information to be reset, meaning that users can never start a new game. So if you sell the game, the next person who plays it is hosed. If the first hand consumer wants to play the game over, they should go out and buy a new copy (presumably)...

Sony Online declared a series of price cuts (that still seem too expensive as one game is 15 bucks a month, and more than you can play is 20 a month) and Blizzard has declared every level prior to 21 in WoW to be free henceforth. You can play World of Warcraft from levels 1-20 for free, and if you already have the original game, you get the content from Burning Crusade for free...

Sony CEO Howard Stringer told investors that Sony was targeted by hackers for protecting their intellectual property rights. Stringer was asked to step down by an investor. He pointed out that Sony isn't the only company to be hacked, only the most recent...

899,000 times 60 (dollars) is 53,940,000 dollars (54 million for those who cannot be bothered with large sequences of digits). That seems like a lot of money, but that's because you aren't a giant corporation.
Wedbush Securities isn't impressed by the ...

This was rumored, but it sounded retarded and so I thought it was likely bullshit. It isn't bullshit. Seriously, the Wii U is this retarded.
The Wii U will only contain one controller, controllers won't be sold separately, and if you manage to get two controllers, the Wii U will only interact with one...

Sony's Hirai told Reuters it plans for the PlayStation Vita to be profitable within three years. Yes, that's right, they aren't expecting the hardware to turn a profit for three years.
On the outset, this seems kind of insane, but it took longer than three years for the PS3 to turn a profit, and Sony lost way more money on that from the outset. Gotta spend money to make money I guess.

The PlayStation Vita has officially been named, replacing a bad name (NGP) with a worse one. This is the replacement to the PSP, if you forget about the PSP Go. I have.
The Vita has also been priced. For 250 dollars, you get the standard unit. For 300 dollars, you get the unit enabled with 3G, meaning you have the honor of paying AT&T for marginal service every month...

More cases are on the way for L.A. Noire, and those cases you missed because you didn't shop at the right retailer are now available as well (and as always, for a price). Hey, look! A list:
Now Available:

GoAtari.Com hasn't made a sale in a year, and so the owner is offering all of his stock up for one lump sum, best offer deal. The guy values his entire stock of old video games up for $358,727.29, but considering the guy hasn't made a sale in over a year, I would imagine that it is actually worth considerably less than that...

This is not a surprise. The PlayStation 3, as impressive as it was, was not cheap to develop. Given the cell processor, the fact that it was a flagship for Blu-ray as a medium, and Sony wanting to come out first in hardware, Sony lost money even at the original $600 price tag (which was too expensive for most folks)...

This comedy of errors has been going on for over a month now, and it just keeps getting better. Sony has released a revised financial outlook for the coming year, and reports a 171.4 million dollar loss. They're dealing in yen, of course, and that's just a conversion, but this does not include any of the lawsuits that have been filed as a result or the like...
