that after a massive
online protest, that took place on
Wednesday, the US Protect IP Act (PIPA) and the Stop Online Privacy Act
(SOPA) have been postponed indefinitely. House Judiciary Committee Chairman

According to a report made by US trade body the Entertainment Software Association,
33 countries fail to adequately protect IP rights. The worst among these are,
apparently, Italy, China, Spain, Brazil and France, which presumably represent
54% of global peer-to-peer game file sharing in 2010...

After yesterday's news that Sony sued PS3 hackers, we now found out the groups have responded to the company's claims.
The group called fail0verflow -- partly responsible for reverse-engineering
PS3's security key generation process -- responded: "Our motivation was Sony's

Sony Computer Entertainment America is suing hacker George Hotz, as well as
over 100 others (also members of fail0verflow), for publicly revealing
the root key details and cracks for the corporation's console, the PlayStation
3.
In case you were unaware, in 2010 Hotz published an exploit for the PS3...

Looks like the shooter Halo: Reach got leaked and is already available
for illegal download via various file-sharing websites. Apparently Halo: Reach
-- due out September 14 -- was made available for reviewers through Xbox Live
Marketplace (the download weighs around 7GB)...

According to Blizzard, their efforts on Battle.net paid off, as the development
studio claims it successfully reduced the incentives for pirates for their games,
including the freshly released strategy

Namco Bandai Partners VP, Olivier Comte. commented recently that Ubisoft's
controversial DRM system is "a good strategy" - albeit only because there
isn't a better alternative at the moment he said.
Namco stressed that until something better is brought to the table, Ubisoft
DRM scheme - which requires a constant Internet connection - is what's best...

As most of you probably know, Ubisoft's new PC DRM, currently included in the
company's recent releases such as Silent Hunter V and Assassin's Creed II, requires
players to have a constant Internet connection so the game can be experienced. The protection system caused a lot of problems for a majority of legit users...

*SIGH* Well, we must all be out of our minds then. Apparently, Microsoft did
not ban one million users (who own modded Xbox 360s) from Xbox Live. At least
that's what the company is saying now.

Microsoft announced that anywhere between an estimated 600,000 and 1 million players using Xbox Live will be cut off from the service because they have "modified
their game consoles or played games that were illegally downloaded from file-sharing
sites, according to the company...
