2K hasn't breathed a word regarding the status of its shooter set in the XCOM universe. The game seemed rather promising at one point. However, it's been some time without any info or media on the game, with the project suffering delays and with reports of the developers shifting to another genre...

Firaxis has debuted a new trailer at PAX East which was non-descript but showed several elements XCOM fans would find familiar. In the trailer an unknown agent states:

The latest scoop from PAX is just in, revealing that XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the alien-themed strategy from Firaxis, is on its way to iPad and iPhone platforms (while the developer previously confirmed that the game is in development for Mac).
The devs are, of course, optimizing the game to suit the platform, which means you can expect an interface makeover and a few other changes...

2K Marin's forthcoming XCOM first-person shooter is, well, may no longer be a first-person shooter, according to a report posted by
Kotaku. The scoop is that XCOM will be turned into a 3rd-person squad-based
shooter - something along the lines of SOCOM or Republic Commando...
